Friday September 9th- Day 8

Rifugio Cappanna Passo Valles to Rifugio Volpi al Mulaz

Day 8 was relatively short and the clouds were rolling in and out, making a moody atmosphere. Sunrise was really special.

Sunrise at Rifugio Cappanna Passo Valles
It was particularly misty and as we worked our way up to the Veneggiotta pass, we passed a sign indicating the boundary of the national park; these look like bus stops, but no busses were passing.

On reaching the first forcela there was a sign indicating our
destination, the Rifugio Volpi al Mulaz.

On the way to Veneggia Pass the mist came in but, as ever, we had views of the mountains around us.

When the views opened up, as ever they were breathtaking.

Much of the time we could see the path snaking ahead of us, giving the surroundings a scale.

The path took us to the left of  the rocky towers of the northern end of the Monte Mulaz range:
...and round to the east of the range, on a narrow path in the mist:

The cloud cover was ever-changing and therefore the views.

As we approached the Rifugio Mulaz, we could just make out the path that we'd be taking the next morning.
In case you missed it, here's a close up of the path- it's on the far right-hand-side of the picture above:
Although Day 8 had been relatively short, it was still strenuous but we had most of the afternoon and the whole evening to recoup and prepare for Day 9.
